Draft Minutes of the Meeting held on Tuesday 17th February, 2004 at 7.00pm at the Eric Liddell Centre.

The Meeting followed a presentation and talk by PC Andrew Cameron, Crime and Prevention Officer, Lothian and Borders Police with his "ten top tips" with No 1 - bogus callers.

1.0 Chairperson's Welcome
Present: Bridget Stevens (Chair), Robin Morris (Secretary), Derek Ainsley (Treasurer), Alison Elwell-Sutton, James Geekie, Desmond Hodges, John Lennie, Wies Robertson, Atholl Stewart, Diana Dunthorne (Bruntsfield Traders), Councillors George Hunter, Liz O'Malley and Sue Tritton and 8 members of public.

2.0 Apologies for Absence
Frances Hawarden, Richard Gardener, Janice Laxton (Minutes), Bob Rendell, Chris Sharman, Colin Young, Councillors Lorna Shiels and Donald Wilson.

3.0 Minutes of the last Meeting held on 20th January, 2004
Correction at 6.1 "PC Lam" approved by George Hunter, seconded by Derek Ainsley

4.0 Matters Arising
4.1 Oliver Shipp is here for two more meetings and Diana Dunthorne has returned
4.2 Prizes for Environmental Competition from Chocolate Delights (D Dunthorne) and more required please. Judging on 20/2/04 and Prizegiving on 27 February at Fountain Park
4.3 Bookmark being designed and draft here for comment. Cost 250 could come from LDC Grant or sponsor if not our funds held.
7.3 the City "could" look in twenty years time

5.0 Treasurer's Report
Balance of Account 1,857.12 at present less 500 committed for prizes.

6.0 Other Reports
6.1 Inspector Brian Nisbet, head of local area Community Policing, gave report with copy of monthly bulletin available. Highlighted parking problems and recent towaways. Neighbourhood Watch scheme interest by present will be followed up
6.2 No Report
6.3 Garden Centre application to be recommended for approval at Council meeting tomorrow after 70 local representations mostly against. Noted local disapproval against application to change travel agents to restaurant at 2 Polwarth Crescent. Enforcement Orders at 5 Ettrick Road, 7 Merchiston Crescent and Ettrick Hotel continuing. 4 Merchiston Cresent - Reporter had allowed porta-cabin until December, 2004 but caravan to be removed at once
6.4 Report on LDC meeting on 2 February noted. Environmental Forum on 18 February - Robin Morris to attend.

7.0 AOCB
7.1 Friends of Harrison Park - Desmond Hodges plus one other please to attend
7.2 Scottish Water Consultation Panel - Robin Morris to attend meeting in Church Hill Theatre tomorrow
7.3 MAGPIE and Marchmont/Sciennes CC petition on HMO's distributed
7.4 AGM in May - Speakers as regards European Parliament elections or Scottish Parliament building to be found.
